Peyton Jenkins, a second-year journalism and international affairs double major, aspires to report about real-world issues in her future as a journalist. Through participating in Model United Nations competitions in high school, Jenkins knew she wanted to follow a career path in foreign relations. Model UN made her realize her love for international affairs, and it is what she wants to focus on in her future stories. “It made me passionate about international affairs, and writing about international affairs … and I’ve stuck with writing about the world,” Jenkins said. She also became attentive to world events through watching documentaries such as “Icarus” and “Period End of Sentence,” as she is a film and history buff. “It makes me see the world through a different lens,” she said. “Awareness is everything.” Jenkins describes herself as ambitious, energetic and outgoing. She gets these qualities from her role model, her mother. She aspires to have her infectious energy. “I have really specific, big dreams that I really hope I can achieve and that makes me want to do everything that’s possible to get there,” Jenkins said.
